Hi I'm a retired pharmacist in the UK and for the past few years I've indulged my passion for cabinet making and general woodwork. I have used a CAD program for some years now, but only in 2D and was really excited when I discovered SketchUp. I tried 6 and liked it and decided to have a look at the trial version of Pro. When that expired I decided to go back to 6, but I cannot lose Pro. I uninstalled both programs and re-downloaded 6, bit every time I open SketchUp 6 now I am told that Pro has expired, with no option to return to 6. How can I lose this?

You are actually simply "downgraded" to the Free version of SU now - so you can continue to use it with the only exeption of the vector based 2D and 3D export options.

Csaba - Sorry buddy but I don't think you addressed rayjack's question. 😐 Then again, maybe you did. Are you saying Rayjack will always get that message but should be able to use the program anyways but with the'free' functionality only?

Rayjack - I'm not sure what's going on. Are you sure the reinstall was the free version? Sounds like there's a registry entry aimed at keeping people from just reinstalling the pro version over & over again after a demo period expires.

Perhaps you could try reinstalling the free version in a different location and if you use a shortcut to access it, make sure it is going to the new install.

        Regards, Ross

Yes Ross, since v.6 this is the case because the two apps are practically identical (this is probably why they didn't seem to bother keeping a lot of the former pro functions like animation export, scaled printing or the sandbox tools away from the free version).

Anyway, even the popup can be annoying enough to try to make a complete uninstall.

          Rayjack,

After the uninstall, did you also removed the SU6 folder with any leftover files (a license file for instance)?

Many thanks for your replies and your interest. I have removed the license file and now bypass the "expired" screen, but the title line still says "SketchUp Pro - expired". I know this doesn't affect anything, but it bugs me. How do I get rid of this?

Hi -- From Csaba's response above, it sounds like that's now the 'price' you pay for using the free version after trying the Pro one.

              Regards, Ross

Well, this is all that the SU Help Center says about uninstalling:
                http://www.google.com/support/sketchup/bin/answer.py?answer=36209&topic=13688

And this is what is says about the expiration of the Pro version:
                http://www.google.com/support/sketchup/bin/answer.py?answer=57943&topic=13688

It must leave some registry entries as well but I couldn't give any hints what to change (delete) in the registry.
