Chosing the correct axis
-
Hi guys I need some help again
If I pick in "free space" how do you control which axis
a rectangle or circle is drawn ?Andrew

Rectangles and circles will always be drawn on either the xy plane, the yz plane or the xz plane, depending on which SU thinks you want. With the circle you can see which plane its drawing in by the colour of the circle. You can then keep it on this plane by holding the shift key.
This doesnt happen with the ectangle, so you just have to guess really.

SU will attempt to draw the rectangle as "flat on" as possible. So you need to orbit around until you are in a position in which it will draw on the correct axis.
I've noticed that a lot of people seem to draw in SU with the axes actually turned off...big mistake. They don't render, so there's no reason to turn them off. There are, however, many reasons to keep them turned on...this being one of them.
Even with them on, orbiting with no geometry in the frame to latch on to can be a little tricky. Without them, it's just plain impossible. -
Some people create draw a box and use this as a reference point to get the correct axis.
You can choose one of the sides and hold shift down to lock the chosen axis while moving into position. -
thanks guy for the help again
