I think there are plans to renovate / demolish the train station. The main waiting hall and the first floor are abandoned.
Bergen op Zoom is a 700-year old city, very nice historic buildings. The train station really doesn't fit in.I'll have to make some photographs of the current situation so you guys can take a look. I'll try to map the area as well.
@ kwistenbiebel
This is my first building I'm going to design which has to be placed in an real life surrounding.
I think a modern style would contrast nicely with the historic surroundings. I'm currently reading "Architecture for Dummies" , so hopefully I'm gonna learn to think like an architect a litte bit.@remus
The last one is my favorite as well, its got way to many glass surfaces I agree with you. Its a WIP so I'm not done with it.@ all
Thanks for the comments and feedback! Got a lot of work to do, I'll keep you guys posted -
Eduardo, I have to ask how you got the commission? Designing a new train station would be a dream commission for many architects, yet you've been appointed with your "Architecture for Dummies book"!

Hehe Kenny, I don't know squat about architecture.
I work in a hotel...I just don't like the train station in my city, so I want to design a new one!
-
Eduardo, as architects do, start with a concept that derives from parameters in the surroundings.
The volumes you show us are just form and it doesn't anything about that particular site.
In other words: it does not communicate.
Not that pure form exploration can't be fun as a play, but to design for a specific location asks for a lot more depth...(I only say this as you explicitely ask for feedback on design.)
What happened to the original station?
-
I'd like to post some images from the surrounding area.
What resolution can I post here? 800 x 600 is to large right? -

Ah! You're an enthusiast like me! Well ... might be a good idea to stock up on architecture books. If you want to keep it cheap (as you Dutchies generally do ), De Slegte is a good place to start. Drop by there from time to time. They have a tendency of offering pretty decent stuff at extremely low prices.

B&S,
Right on with the blue glass...

Got an update.
This is what the train station looked like in the good old days.Than it got replaced in the 70's by this:
And some images from LiveEarth:
This is the Stationsstraat, the street that leads to the train station and the main square.
Beautifull street with historic buildings, mostly lawyers and real estate brokers.Train station birds eye view.
I've made some changes to my 3rd model. Toned down the number of glass surfaces.
@ stinkie
Yep, I've got quite a few architecture books now. Last week I picked up "Architecture Now! Vol 3." for only โฌ 9,95! -
Got a new design for the train station.
I'd like to have a glass rood so the whole building has a light interior.Your humble opinion please!

the 3rd looks nice
great job

Here's two simple renders of the latest model

You know, perhaps it would be a cool idea to design the new station in a similar way to the old one, but a bit more modern. I think the surroundings would benefit from that Could you show us a view including the tracks?
