SU class is finished!
-
hey! i forgot too tell you guys! some of you may remember that i was teaching a semester long class on SU. well, that class is finished and it turned out to be a HUGE success! all the students loved it, some of the teachers dropped in to watch and thought that i was a really good teacher, and there's talk of one ore more of the students carying on the class next year!
unfortunatly, i will be leaving that school, so i will have to drop in every once in awhile and see what's happening. and at my new school (high school, oh boy), there's like a bazillion other kids, so doing the class again there will be nigh on impossible.
in the class i taught baisic SU techniques, and eventually (they learned really fast), we were able to work our way up to making TIN objects and even using GreenToaster's method for making a car! even though alot of our classes were cut for supossedly more important things, i think we still accomplished more than anyone thought we would. im very happy.

Congrats, seems like you've done a fine job!
Getting appreciation for your work is one of the things one can really enjoy.
And now up to a next year of teaching. -
Mate I'm interested in your methods. Did you develop your own course structure or use one developed by google? I have negotiated a position teaching SU at our local community adultt larning college and did approach google for something of a course structure based upon their own model but with no response!

Richard, Bonnie Roskes has written a school curriculum based on her SketchUp Books. There is a teacher's manual and the student excercise books.
You can reach her at f1help dot biz -
well, to tell you the truth, i didnt really have a set course. i just went along at the same pace as the students and taught what ever seemed necesary. i didnt go with a set plan because it might move too fast or too slow for the class. i had a small class of about 15-20 people, so i was able to go around and help every one individualy.
and yes remus, i am happy that my school does things different. i was the first ever student to teach a class there, and rather than going "oh, it'll be too much work" they did everything they could to help me achieve this. i go to an awsome school, great teachers, great progects. heck! for one project i got to build a tennis ball cannon that shoots tennis balls 100 feet up in the air!
