Dovetail puzzle
-
I came across a nice little puzzle that I thought I'd share. A woodworker friend handed me two blocks of wood (each from a different wood, for contrast) joined together with what appeared to be an impossible dovetail joint.
I just had to model it to show you guys. This is what it looks like assembled. There's no way to have a dovetail joint on all four sides. There'd be no way of assembling it.

Or would there...?
Now have a look at the model...

Here the image of Skp

There is no trap in the pieces!

Here the Skp !
Of course it will more easy to build it in reality for find the only good solution!
Have fun
PS It is also not so easy to unbuild it

Hehe
Solution is given by the X-ray
Very cool trick!
Do you now this one?

I don't give you the solution because it's one of the more "simple" crazzy headache I had never seen
Even you find a 3D solution(many exist), that don't say that you can assembly it in reality!
Only one works!

nice, thanks for posting this.

Gidon, very cool...I've sent on to a couple of others, thanks!

A pretty nifty trick, certainly had me stumped.

Had me stumped until I saw the inside, then it was obvious. That's the best kind of trick.
Some planes are made with double dovetails between the side and the sole. I think it's done by pounding metal around corners. Can't do that with wood. Here's a pic I found on the net.
