          That'll be € 20, mate. A copywriter needs to eat too. πŸ’š

As do the nice folks who write all them cool Ruby scripts. I don't have a problem with people selling their scripts through Smustard. I mean, most of them are pretty cheap - and they can sure add a lot to SU's functionality.

Look at this way: if a lot of these cool, non-free scripts were incorporated in SU, SU's price would go up. At least now you can choose whether you want to spend more or not.

Oh, I don't have a problem with commercial scripts either and Smustard is a good place to buy them.
From time to time though, a plugin stands out from the rest and feels like it could be part of Sketchup itself.

I can imagine that a native Sketchup plugin written in C++ (or whatever the code language they use) can be streamlined more than a ruby, which works 'on top' of sketchup.

                Agreed.
This is a plugin that deserves its place in an official Sketchup built.

I'm trying to use this fine plugin to spray some grass clipmaps around. However, I keep getting this message (paraphrasing): 36589 4578 9821 thingies will be created. In short: the numbers are off the chart. Seems to be a file-specific thing. Could this be scale related?

                    Hi Stinkie,

AFAIK that's "only" a warning about possibly too many polygons. As I remember, Didier wrote somewhere that you can go on - just maybe SU will never finish the job.

                    Gai...

As you said it mght be the scale, so check that first.

Other stuff to check: spay density, might be able to lower it down a bit to reduce the number of thingies.

edit: too quick for me gai.

Even when that message pops up, clicking 'ok' will work.
It will drop a handful objects and immediately the same message will pop up.
Click ok again will drop a lot more objects....Again the message... now click cancel as with that next iteration it WILL drop the millions and your rig will explode πŸ˜„.

This brings me to a question I was asked over google talk the other day and never had an answer for, maybe someone here has one.

What is the poly limit, or how many faces/ polygons have you been able to reach before SU said enough is enough?

Hmm, as far as I can remember, I haven't had any "poly overkill" splats just yet. Slow downs, yes. Splats, no.

Well, Pete, that's really machine dependent. At the old forums there was a file to test this with scenes and with more and more (face me) components in it. As people advanced along the scenes, their computers were dying respectively but of course it was not the same for everyone.

If there is an "absolute" limit - well, I don't know...

                                Gai...

Youve probably got it already pete, but heres the crowd test. Just keep going through the scenes untill SU stops.

just as a reference, i got to scene 10 with some minor stuttering, scene 11 was very slow...

Id guess this is gettign a bit old now, we need an update up to 20 scenes i reckon.

                                    Hello, youngsters!

I got me another problem. I'm trying to spray rectangles with a grass mat on a mesh. Everything's fine as far as the "horizontal" part of the mesh is concerned, but when I spray the comps on the sloping part, they end up beneath the mesh.

                                    Here's some screenies:
