.kmz to .3ds

Besides renaming a .kmz file to .zip and unzipping it to a folder with a mess of textures and .dae files is there any otherv way of doing a straight conversion maintaining the texture coordinates and model intact?

Maybe by : Kmz-->Blender-->OBJ (or 3DS) ?
