Won't select faces
-
Sketchup has decided i can't select faces. i can drag around them to select but if i click them nothing happens. if i turn off hardware acceleration the problem stops but the program begins to run at about 0.25 fps. how can i fix this? i have a very good system so there should be no reason why it won't work.
also, i can select them if i turn xray on... how weird is that....

I'm really not a hardware guru at all but this really sounds like sokmething with your video card driver. What card do you have? Could you check if you have the latest driver installed?
-
i have an ATI sapphire HD 3870 card and the latest drivers are installed.
-
Have you tried ticking the 'correct reverse picking' box in windows->prefernces->opengl?
-
yep tried that, nothing changed so turned it back off
-
Fast feedback?
-
tried both on and off
-
Have you tried messing about with the opengl settings for your graphics card? i know you need to do this for some nVidia cards.
-
i don't think there are any, i had a look just now
-
I also have a (2-year-old) ATI card and even that has one. If you ever find it, you should set the OpenGL settings to "application controlled".
-
i found the 'opengl settings' but only had 2 tick boxes, triple buffering and force z-buffer depth. i tried both and still no joy.

Hm... Still I guess it's inside your system since "SU has decided" to do so after working well I guess. Have you installed any programs / plugins lately?
-
nope none. i just reinstalled su and still no luck.

I think I'm having the same problem.
In my case it seems like there's no problem selecting faces on the sides of the model, but when I try to select a face that lies on the top, then the faces on top acts as if it wasn't there and a face underneath it is the one that actually gets selected.
If you picture a box, I go to select the top face, but SU actually selects either the bottom or one of the sides.
Weird...
No problem selecting faces.
Behavior seems to stop when using X-ray (ie. selection works like it should).
I tried ticking and unticking boxes in the preferences but that didn't work.
UPDATE: Tried once more turning off hardware acceleration and problem seems solved.
