Car rental from San Francisco
-
I actually won't be getting in until 1:11 PM on the tenth, and I'm going to stay in SF until the 18th, switching to the city from Mountain View the afternoon of the 13th after the Basecamp finishes up. I'll be happy to give someone a ride to Mountain View, but I'm not quite sure yet whether I drop off the car before I go into SF, or if I'm going to keep it while I'm there (my family is joining me for vacation afterwards, but we have relatives in the city and might not need our own vehicle).

aw paul , I was so looking forward to seeing you again.
I am sorry you won't be there. -
Sorry to miss you too Paul. Enjoyed your company at 3DBC Version 1.
I'll be flying into San Jose on 6/10 2 11:06 am, but will have to scurry down to South San Jose for a lunch meeting with friends.
I'll be flying out from San Jose on Saturday, 6/14. Plane leaves @ 11:45 am.

I'll be hitting SFO on the 9th June at 17.00! I probably will
just get the shuttle or have relitives collect me as I have cousins
in San Jose. I don't know if I need the hassle of a car for the
week. I did hire one in Boulder but really did not get value
from it. Also I booked a Jeep, which I have driven before and
I got some kind of Ford with a foot handbrake its was like a
boat . If I decide to hire a car I will do it on the
ground so I will know what I'm getting.Paul, sorry to hear you will not be going. We had some nice
chats and walks in Boulder.Mike

I'll be arriving at 1pm on the 10th in San Jose and leaving at 2pm on the 14th. I have not booked a car yet I may look into ground transportation to the hotel from San Jose. I'll rent a car if needed but may wait to book it until closer to departure date.
Looking forward to seeing some of the sketchup users I've only communicated with via the forums or email.

I made my hotel reservations with the Hotel Avante that Susan had originally found...the rates they are offering are still competitive with the ones most recently cited by Google in the last email (which I assume everyone received).
Anyway, I phoned the Hotel Avante a little while ago to make a change to my departure date. I also asked the reservations agent at the hotel what would be the best way to get from the SF airport to the hotel. He said that SuperShuttle
would only run me $30 one way, whereas taxis would be $107 and of course care rental would vary but be expensive (although apparently Google can get special rates). He also pointed out that this particular hotel has a complementary shuttle that would deliver me to the Googleplex and bring me back.
Since I really don't see much need for a car right now, I think the shuttle is the route I will choose.

I didn't ask, Coen. Sorry. I actually made my reservations at the Avante right after Susan got the group rate and sent it to all of the "VIP" crowd. But did you see this page from Google?
http://www.google.com/events/3dbasecamp/accommodations.html
The Hotel Avante seems to be a sister to Wild Palms, because they share the same reservation number.

Be sure, if you use Avante, to go through the links provided on Susan's email to make sure you get the preferred rate...it looks like they are shaving off about $70 a night for Entourage Arts and Google.
(Thanks again, Susan, for being on top of this.)

Susan has booked 30 rooms and 25 have been taken so far. I have also booked one (I know you wouldn't share it with me because I snore) but if Mike is willing to share his with me (or Google does insist on me staying in another hotel), I can pass mine to you.
-
I've heard you snoring Csaba ..... no way I need my beauty sleep these times
Read this 'Fun "executive toy box" to stimulate your creativity in every room' Mmmmm sounds interesting, I wonder what they have in the box?
-
As it seems I will have to stay in another hotel anyway so I'll have to get rid of my reservation anyway.
But hey, Mike, you snore like a bear, too! Good we never went to bed without a couple of drinks otherwise I couldn't have slept either (and see, Coen was really wrong to stay sober most of the times) -
I've been checking out the stuff at Googleplex. I think I may have found the cushiest job there ...... The Lifeguard!

Hey guys,
I'm flying into San Jose 9:59p.m. on the 10th, flying out of San Jose 8:25p.m. on the 13th. I'm not sure what hotel I'm staying in, yet. I hope to have my hotel reservation in the next couple days. Are any of the Google/Entourage Arts block of rooms still available?
Still open to splitting a room if anyone is interested.
