Hi. Can someone please tell me how to increase the export resolution when exporting a 2D graphic of my model. I've increasing the resolution from the export window from the default (72) but nothing happens? Resolution remains at 72. I need at least 70

      Thanks for any advice.

I dont think theres anyway specific way to get the export resolutiona above the default 72, alohugh you could always just export the image bigger than you need to and than resize it.

I don't use a Mac, but I believe that it has a setting for ppi (pixels per inch) on export; the Windows version does not. No matter, the PPI settings are completely arbitrary (they indicate the "size" of the pixel). What counts is the total number of pixels, so export your image as large as you like, then use the print preview function in Photoshop to set the size of your image on the printed page. You will see the ppi setting change dynamically as you change the size of the image on Pshop.

Thanks for the responses. It's strange though, that there is provision in the options box of the export window to change the resolution. But the file size and resolution of the exported image doesn't change regardless of how much I increase the resolution value. I would've thought that if you couldn't change the resolution then they would not give you the option to do so.

            thanks

As Paul says, changing the ppi...even if you could...would not have the effect of either changing the file size or making your render any larger (ie. more detailed). It would simply make the same image occupy a different area on a default import to something like Word, prior to actually resizing it.

To change what most people would understand by the resolution, you need to uncheck the "Use screen size" box in the export dialog and change the height/width setting to several thousand pixels. Incidentally, there is no option to do this in the free version.

Well, since v.6 the 2d export options are identical in the free and pro versions. Only 3D and 2D vector formats are not available for export in the free version (and for some peculiar reason in the Windows version only, the Location tab in the Model Info dialogue). That's all. Even print to scale and the sandbox tools - that were Pro features only in v.5 - are included in the free version now.

                Gai...
