I just realised how long it is since I've posted anything at all here - so here is some new work.
This one was done for as a test for a very good job I'm hoping to get, so fingers crossed...

Looks pretty sweet. What software (apart from SU) did you use? Piranesi?
-
Just Painter X, and Photoshop for the final colour correction
Thanks for looking - final image now resized so it displays correctly on the forum.

Sweet!!
I love the feel of it, will be keeping tabs on your site for updates.
thanks for sharing.

Been far too long Alex.
Great work as always. Enjoyed your recent stuff on mattepainting.org too.
Hope you get that job you're after
Andy.

Thanks for the comments.
@andyc: Cheers mate! Mattepainting has been taking up a lot of my time recently - not so many opportunities for sketchup useage , nor for straight digital painting
Hopefully I can remedy that this year...

AJ, just gorgeous... the lighting is stunning, very captivating. I'm so drawn to the violet lights.
I would love to know more about your workflow!

Very nice indeed..!!

I also liked the SU image. It reminded me of the (late, I think) British architectural illustrator Gordon Cullen. His book Townscape has many such simple and powerful illustrations.

Thanks for your comments everyone.
@tinanne: I'll see about getting some WIP shots together
@Anssi: I'm not too clued up on my architects, so I'd never heard of Gordon Cullen before. Kind of a shame, because he sounds like a bit of a legend. Thanks for the heads up - I've tracked down some of his work for further study...

Bravo!
It is something completely deferent an goooood! -
Great work as usual Alex. This is really refreshing.

Alex! What great work. Is this for a video game gig? Very thorough work! I hope you get the gig, it's hard work doing concepts for that type of game (having worked on on them for quite a while now).
One question, is the player path northward or southward?
-
Thanks for commenting, everyone...
@monsterzero: Thank you! - still waiting to hear
If you've got minute, I'd really appreciate some feedback on some charcter work I've been doing. Characters have always been my weakest area, so I've been putting a bit of effort in there lately.
It's absolutely OT for this forum, though - PM if you think you might have a few minutes to spare.
In answer to your question:
The player path is northwards (the clocktower is facing due south) - though you've got me worried now.
What REALLY obvious thing have I not thought about?
Thanks for looking
Take care
