Tom, I've never visited Beverley, I love the stone buildings in the rural parts of Yorkshire.
John. I don't know about a masterclass! All I can say is I PS textures before applying to a model and make lots of quick, small renders. It's a pain in the a**e to change things in PS afterwrds.
Karina & Crankston, Thank you both.
Jonathan, I'm using V-ray but I only learning to use it, a lot of the settings are far above my head. A glass bump map, I've never heard of but I'd be interested to learn more about it.
Kind regards John

RE: A stroll by the church..
Thank You all.
Lee, It's not Beverley, I have the picture but never saved the location on the pic, I'ts Yorkshire though
.
Jonathan & John, galleries sound great in practice but imagine the server load if every member had their own!. I'm paying for web hosting space with my Internet package but havn't a clue how to set a page up!
Pete, I've looked at the shop in open all hours before, the shops still there so no prob to get dimensions from street-view. Let me finish the model I'm on with and I'll see what I can do.

mitcorb & Daniel, Thank You again.
John, this "happy" render was a joy to model.
cadmunkey, we all evolve with each model just like Sketchup is evolving. The only problem is we all spend a year trying to catch our mentors, only to find they skipped three years ahead in that time!

A stroll by the church..
A small church in Yorkshire. I've made a short walkthrough of how this was made. Pete ( Solo ) will post it up soon, a big Thank-you goes to him.

RE: Newsagents..
Thanks for your comments folks, I think we all have fond memories of the friendly corner shop.John looks good, i'm a bit of a fan of B&W Images.

RE: Newsagents..
deanlegg, thank you, the UK to St.Maarten bet you miss our sunny weather! Please don't take my renders to represent the overall picture over here, they usually come across a bit depressing! As you know we have some beautifull places too. Have you been back since you emigrated? If you miss anything about the UK, what would it be?
regards John -
RE: Newsagents..
Hello Pete, I'd be honoured!. Just started a new model after tea so I'm not too far on, I'll keep track of it.
Thank you

RE: Newsagents..
Hello dsarchs, thank you. Yes that vampie boy is there! never noticed until you pointed him out, fresh eyes are great. The original picture was taken in 1964 I believe. The paving was drawn as individual slabs and textured, as shown in the line output.

RE: Newsagents..
Hello Stuart, All of my renders are from photos, this was an old B&W pic from the local Newspaper.

RE: Newsagents..
Thank you Bob, It didn't turn out as I envisaged, but not many renders do!
Thank you Lee, The last one is all PS, it's an Action (CopyKatPastel) thats not too heavy.

Newsagents..
G. Hughes Newsagents. I used to deliver papers from here many moons ago. The shop is still there but it's now a hair salon! Most of the local "corner shops" are gone now with the influx of the supermarkets. Wanted to make it aged, not sure I suceeded.

RE: Prison...
Hello TIG, I worked on the new young offenders institute at Medomsley now known as Hasslefield I believe, exactly the same, everything they desired, Β£12m to house 38 offenders! I also worked on Prince Bishop's shopping centre and used to watch the the transfare of the "political" prisoners. Money no object.
take care

RE: Prison...
Thank You all, I've done very few interiors, prefer the little cottages.
Lee your welcome to the Skp. you'll have to replace the textures because its too big with better textures on.

RE: Ivy Cottage...
Thank you everyone. Lee hope it will be ok to post the image here, it wasn't mine, but disabled downloading was not on it so I hope it's ok.

RE: Ivy Cottage...
Thanks, the raw render output is below, the Ivy was just one leaf made into a component, moved, scaled ect. Not perfect but better than PS, all the plants-trees are PS.

Ivy Cottage...
A small cottage in the Yorkshire Dales.
Last Image is a request from John ( Sketchupnoobie )

RE: Murphy's Re-done
Thanks all, the last image was a bit of an afterthought after so much tweaking with the render. I used a great little piece of software http://www.hdrsoft.com/download/win.html , it's for hdri but you can use 1 image or adjust the exposure in PS first for 3 or 5 bracketed images.
Thanks John -
RE: Murphy's Re-done
Thank you all,
Kristoff, lol, don't put yourself down. I was in two minds to post this or not. Enjoyed the model but the render was one of those we all get, no matter what you do it turns out sh**e.
007, Welcome to the site, you'll find a friendly bunch here.
Mike, I certainly felt like having a few when trying to render it.
ramy_ramoum, The paving was done the long way, draw the slabs, copy, paste, offset and erase the joints. TIG has an excellent ruby that I could have used http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=28223
John, too many of these old buildings are going to waste, soon be all gone!
