Thank you all. A very powerful option for gathering 3d's from complex shapes is photosynt's point cloud 3ds.... it's just like laser scanner but much less expensive. But is not so easy to use, you need some mesh apps and tools etc etc... I think is a very good thing for archaeology.

In my case I just used Sketchup. I started with some plans/sections and tried to match at least simplified shapes. Then I applied the textures.

    • Puteoli - Pozzuoli, Italy - an archaeological work

Hi guys, i'm Cristiano from Italy, Pozzuoli.

Maybe who knows Roman Empire and Rome history, surely has heard about Pozzuoli, the main seaport of Rome, before the building of Ostia..
That's a great city, full of beautiful things, but the people here is not so much caring about them like in the past.. so i decided to make a 3d copy of these archaeological sites to preserve someway this incredible inheritance.

My next step is to build an entire virtual city like Rome in 3D for Google Earth, maybe not so much detalied!

take a look at my models

    • RE: All Ancient Rome models from 3DWarehouse together

      Hi all guys!!

      I'm Cristiano, from Italy....

time ago I started geomodeling of the main archaeological sites of my city, Pozzuoli, or Puteoli in latin! I think Puteoli was second only to Rome, since it was its main seaport before the building of Ostia. They are absolutely the first and the unique at the moment on Google Earth! Take a look here

but now I want to do more... I would like to make a complete 3d reconstrucion of the city at the time of roman empire (about 150 /200 a.C.). Didn't want to be so detailed, maybe something less than Rome in 3D for Google Earth. There are a lot of buildings to do, but i've got any kind of plans and information to make an almost exact reconstruction.

It's a big work, and I was wondering if someone here can help me, maybe just with some basic models to use in the maps and some tips (like gathering a big terrain surface from google Earth, but detailed)
