we might not ought to be promoting illegal activities regarding copyrights, seeing the nature of our group...

Kris - what is illegal about what Cheffey is linking to - is it hacking the wii that would be wrong? please don't misread this, I am just not seeing the illegal angle. Itunes is just a player, wii - I don't know tonnes about, but I assume that the web browsing is part of the dealio.

More than not understanding the potential illegality, I don't understand why you would want itunes on your wii. Does the wii have much of a hard drive (or any at all?) or would it be to stream from the web? I don't really get why you'd want to do that other than (as mentioned by Kris) that you could. Cheffey - maybe you can help me understand, as I don't have a wii, and have a full 7.1 system hooked up at the same place as my TV - so I don't get the music part (as I have a stereo/DVD player/iPod/CD changer at my disposal).

Kris - you've got to help me with the illegal part.

Itunes is a paid music service right? if you are hooking into it and downloading their music you are breaking the law right?

              Kris,
I never pay anything for iTunes. I use it to play all my music, rip my CD's and sync my iPod. I also use it do get free podcasts of things like national geographic news and the Pigeon John Podcast. I have bought music on itunes, but only about 6 songs. This requires a credit card and account, I would suspect the very same on wii. I think this is just to run the iTunes program on the wii... yes, you can pay for content to be sent to you on iTunes, but it doesn't require any financial input for most of it's operation.

As for why you would want to fiddle with your wii (ahem!) set up an interface on the wii, and stream your audio library to your TV, so you can set up your game system to play music instead of games - well, I guess you would do it because you can?

if you pay for the music that doesn't mean you have to listen to it just on iTunes... i actually use my iPod to listen to music too, is that illegal?

you wouldn't be downloading directly from their service, you would be streaming it from your music library. nevermind, i'll delete this post soon as i figure out how.

Just my two cents: Please don't delete stuff unless really necessary. With stuff removed it just makes this thread a disjointed waste of time. The question about legality was a good one but I think the replies have shown it wasn't a valid issue with the Wii/iTunes setup.

                  Regards, Ross

                    Ross,
I added back a link, i'll say my peace before i'm on my way. It would seem that if one isn't quite sure of something then it would be for the benefit of all in a "community" not to take an accusatory stance. Questioning is one thing...

yes do not delete stuff unless you truly don't want it here... I'm a moderator so if I wanted to delete it I would have... I thought I Tunes was a pay only service... but if it's not then I'm wrong... anything with an I on the front of it usually means expensive and made backwards by and underdog computer company, so I steer clear... but I was under the impression that ITunes was a pay service...

my apologies... that's why we don't delete things until we ask questions and think it through... someone can learn here... as I have just done.

Yeah, Kris - Itunes is just like Windows media player or Winamp. Organise your tunes, make playlists, sync to your media device or stream media, and there is a store component to purchase songs, but the actual player and service is free. The only thing that costs is content, and you pay per just like you would at a store, the only difference is iTunes download is much faster than going to a store, you can get one or two tracks instead of the whole CD and sometimes the music you buy is digitally protected, can only be burned a couple of times etc...

                              yoko ono??? 😒

For years i used iTunes just as an organizer, then slowly rolled into buying a few songs.
iTunes now has DRM-free music and it only costs pennies to upgrade your existing songs.
DRM-free is digital rights management free. this will free you up to listen on a lot of other devices.
You will get the song at double the bitrate, no burn limits, sync to an unlimited number of iPods, and iTunes Plus music will play on all iPods, Mac or Windows computers, Apple TVs, and many other digital music players.

no problem.. I should have known a lil more about it... but the words free hack and music just sent me down the wrong road... and this place being new I didn't want to see a precedent...

now all I need is a wee? well I have a wee here but its not to be played with like that....
