      I banged this out this morning. Thought I'd share. It's based upon the bench by Mark Edmundson that was featured in the same issue of Fine Woodworking that included some of my SketchUp drawings. The original has woven Danish cord seat. I'd like to find a better texture for that but if you don't look too closely, what I used seems to work alright.

        Looks really nice Dave and I think that texture works well.
        A version of that would look good with a back support also. I like the style of how the pieces taper in towards the centre.
        Is the seat flat on top or have you modelled it slightly sunken? Im not sure if it is modelled like that or the texture gives it that effect.

          I just drew the model as built. A back rest seems like a good idea although I'm not certain how it would work.

          I thought about modelling a bit of sag to the seat but decided not to complicate the model further. I hadn't noticed that it does look a bit sagged but that is certainly due to the texture.
