Now, back on topic...
Darrel, One small request, can you located the latest Skin.rb file on your first post please? For some reason my skin ruby wasn't working and i had to filter through 12 pages of posts to find Version 2.5 [I assume it is the latest version...]. This is another reason why it would be handy to put the updates on your first posts, [as does Fredo, Whaat, Chris...] is that they post a compressed file named the version in questions...
Would just make things easier to find.
Thanks for a great script, BTW!!!! -
BTW, on the Skin Files thread:
http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=6912&hilit=plugin
it referes to the current version as 2.2.....
then on this thread on page 12 the current version is 2.5.... -
Utiler:
Best I can tell, Mr. Darrel, the author of Skin.rb hasn't been heard from since he posted the plugin. Maybe Jim, the plugin curator on this forum has contacted him.
I am wondering if someone could take up the skin plugin just to get it consistent even if it will become obsolete. Sometimes you just need a simple operation like this.
Somehow, I was able to get it and the icons. I think I did it by loading an early version, then a later version, and then going back to the early version, or some combination like that. It sets up a drop down call in the Tools menu, called D.B. Tools with a couple of extended options. -
Thanks Mate, wasn't aware that he hasn't been around....
I'll try your method.
Cheers, -
Looks like April 12th was the last time he logged on. you could try PM'ing him or sending him an email through the forum. That might make it to his home email account if you'd like,
Chris

Any possibilities to make skin.rb working inside of groups/components?
This will be very nice(i usually must copy the geometry outside of the groups and after running the skin taking it back into group or component).. -

I installed the .23 version
I am working with Sketchup 7.0.10247

Hi All,
I'm new but i think i fixed the MacProblem with Skin.rb
Because of Sketchup V6 and V7 have no NamedOptions there was this NilObject Problem.
Here is the latest Code (2.5) with changes to the Option related Sections.
Should be also running under Windows.
Best Regards

Hi Again,
Here is the next Version. I call it -26, because it works now within Groups and Components.
This was a very minor Change frome active_model.entities to active_model.activ_entities.
Thanks to Thomas Thomassen for his clearly tt_cg2.rbBest Regards
-
is this latest amendment only a MAC script?
-
No should be working on Windows too.
-
@christian-dl:
Does skin26 have the toolbar icons? And can anyone confirm Windows operability? -
mitcorb-The toolbar is the same with previous skin22(or next) ... u need just to replace the skin22.rb(or next) with skin26.rb ..and yes works on windows too(i don t get it he(christian_dl) said clear it works why don t u give it a try huh??)
Thanks a bunch christian_dl ..it works very well in groups and components
Additional thanks to Thomas Thomassen.Elisei

Believe me. It is nothing personal. I had such difficulty before with getting the icons the ruby and the drop down menu entry in one package, I am just not interested in more of the same gymnastics.
Best regards,

skin26.rb on iMac: sooooo useful in ducting construction and all sorts of other things!
Many, many thanks,christian_dl (and ThomThom)
Also looking forward to Chris' ruby
-
Dear Christian,
Your skin-26 doesn't seem to be compatible with the icons for skin22. Only 2 of the 5 icons appear. Could you please produce a folder of icons which are compatible with your script?
Regards,
Bob -
I agree Bob. The skin ruby icons are the ones i always have trouble with...

Something makes me believe that Architectboy is no longer involved with Sketchup, or Ruby. He may have moved on to other interests as he got older. He just didn't resign formally. He certainly showed that he has the talent.
If one of the moderators cares to pursue this, I think I know his full name and what region he last resided. I otherwise will respect his privacy.
