A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members

Hi, I've just registered an hour ago and a beginner for one month.
-
Hey, I'm Kman. I just signed up, and I've been doing SketchUp since early '07. This site has great Plug-ins, and AMAZING tutorials. I'm going to go set up my ACC a bit more.

Hi Kman and welcome!

hi guys, i'm a student landscape architect. i just started studying sketchup a week ago. just wanna introduce myself.
-
Hi licus and welcome!
There are a couple of landscape architects here so you will be advised when you have questions.
As a very first advice; always keep an eye on poly count in SU as its is easy to go very high with lots of entourage, plants etc. Organise your model always very carefully and use layers extensively.

Oh, you must have been some 10 years old back then (when version 1 came out)!

Good Morning. Newbie here - dmcm85.
I have used free Sketchup for several years and have used the Pro 7 version since it came out. (Convinced my company to buy because of my speed of concept sketches) I work on design and engineering using Sketchup as a concept and construction tool. Im exploring rendering plug-ins for my presentations. I work in the Audio Video Home Theater world and design/build furniture.
Thanks and I hope I can learn and help out.dmcm85

Hi David and welcome!
In the Gallery we have a "Render applications home pages" sticky topic where there are tons of them listed.
Hope to see some of your works!

Thought I'd say hiya,

Awesome site, I'd like to say thanks to whoever makes it possible -

I figured it would be the kind thing to do and introduce myself. I am Jeff, I am an Exhibits Project Assistant at The Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. I do layout and starting on more exhibit design work. I have been using sketchup for a few months, but have a strong background with drafting/architectural design/and the like. I don't use the software so much for it's rendering purposes, but am starting to venture into it for presentation purposes. Basically I am using Sketchup in the museum world to make the redesigns easier and making it easier for communication to happen between the departments that need to make the decisions and just can't visualize things in their head easily.
Hope that makes sense.

Hi Jeff and welcome. This sounds interesting (as I also do similar things although mostly not arranging exhibitions but creating virtual 3D stuff for exhibitions).

Can find near everything i need in the forum...Welcome Gilk, just take your time and look around. During the years the forum system here has gone through so many changes that it's not too intuitive to find everything at the first sight!

Hi everyone,
To say that I am out of my depth here would be a understatement. I'm a 35 year old Grape grower that regularly stares at the computer in complete confusion, but I have always had an interest in plans and building (I still have a graph book around somewhere with house plans I used to draw when I was about 10). I did tech drawing in high school and pretty much blitzed, but never did any more than that. I've never found a program that would work the way I thought it should (probably not the programs fault ), until now!! I drew up a steel frame bench that I built to post on a related forum and thought I had the thing sorted, but it really only used the features explained in the 'chair tute' and now I am stuck trying to draw some pipe fitting and 'T' pieces, so here I am, about to try out your search function.
I look forward to learning some stuff I've been intending to do for years.
Cheers,
Dex. -

Greetings!
My name is Tim, I'm 17 years old, I'd like to start off by saying, This site is great and the administrative feedback is very supportive! Now heres a little about myself,I use sketchup to build art, You give an artist a canvas he or she will give you art. If I'm given an axis I will give art lol. I build the art as as not just for fun or architecture but also to help me relieve stresses. I'm only average skill at the program, and I'm glad I came across this site, because I am always looking for ways to better my skills, or new tips and plugins! Sorry if I didn't post this in the right topic, please bare with me lol like I said its been a stressful time. lol
Looking forward to seeing members and their tips! Thank you for reading! Good day!

Hi Tim and welcome!
Best would be to show off with your work and don't get discouraged if some folks take "critiques are welcome" seriously!

Hello all,
My name is Valence. I played with CAD when I was a kid, but SketchUp is the first 3D modeling program that I've used in about 20 years. I hope to use it for a mix of work and personal projects. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to coax Chris Fullmer's Shape Bender into making a closed ring, even though I know it's not supposed to
Cheers,
Valence
