Getting SketchUp 2018 to connect to the internet on Windows 11
-
I have a perpetual license for SketchUp 2018. It is currently loaded on my laptop (since 2018) but I have a second seat and would like to load it onto my newer desktop computer that runs Windows 11. When I open SketchUp, it says I am not connected to the internet, even though I am.
I've done some research and one solution says I need to open my i18n.dat file and change the ONLINE_TEST_URL to something other than bing.com. I've done this, and it hasn't worked.
Another post suggests SketchUp 2018 is trying to use Internet Explorer to see if I'm online, but that feature has been discontinued on Windows 11 and cannot be installed. I have no good solution if this is the problem.
Any suggestions? I really love having a perpetual license and would like to keep it for as long as possible. My laptop is going to die someday and I'm not sure I can afford the expense of a Pro license at this time.
Thanks.
