      Hello,
is it possible to get layers into walls so I can see insulation for example, in Sketchup or Layout ?

I would like to model 3D then, while using a section plan, to have different material visible on the plan/section views, inside SKP or Layout (well, like archicad or other CAD software will do).

Or maybe is there a good technique to "link" a line type to a view in Layout so I can draw a contour and get more wall detail like the image above ?

      Thanks !

      JG

You can model wall internals in 3D, and Section will show you the contours of each element's cross section.
However, to automatically display them with appropriate hatches is not possible in Sketchup.
It's a feature found in BIM software, like Autodesk Revit. Sketchup acts more like 2D CAD application here.

That said, you can send the sectioned scene of a model to Layout, and add hatches manually by drawing shapes and choosing pattern for them from Layout Scrapbooks.
