Bend Object to Outside of Path Using Shape Bender

Hello,
I am really struggling to align an object to the outside of a curved path with the Shape Bender plugin. I can get it to align to the inside of the path but not the outside.
If someone could offer any suggestions on how to do it, or an alternative plugin, that would be appreciated. I expected this to be as simple as selecting the object, selecting the straight line and selecting the curve. I have tried all combinations of up and down arrows to change the start / end.

It happens when I rotate and apply the objects as seen in the picture. I also reduced the number of segments.
