A new / used laptop has been proposed to me with "AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2.0GB GDDR5 memory, plus an Iris Pro 5200 with 1.5GB shared memory"

Anything wrong with this, off the cuff, for SketchUp, Photoshop, or rendering?

(I don't know what shared memory means--I can ask the tech guy who's putting this together, I'm sure)

      Thanks.

Shared Memory usually means the memory is split between OS/Programs and Graphics

so say you've got 4GB, you'd have 3GB for OS/Programs and 1GB allocated for the graphics.

Oh. Thank you! I guess this has to do with "integrated graphics"--which saves energy and if you want to keep performance up you switch to the dedicated card. I am guessing, mind you. I have "NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB" on my current computer. It's OK, but the advice I am getting to upgrade is to this new machine and get a bigger, faster drive and some other things included.

As far as I know sketchup work best in Nvidia cards.
New MacBook Pro STOP using Nvidia cards. I’ve been a Mac user for years and i am really disappointed about this.
My next upgrade will be window platform moving forward to the future of computing!
WHY? First I cannot use high end VR in Mac, Secondly real-time rendering Lumion windows only no Mac,
Also I am an Enscape and Vray user. So for me I will move platform to use Nvidia cards.
            Cheers
