Plugin Idea - Line length

Hi All,
An idea came to me from using the 'Select Path Tool' that comes with 'Sketch UV'I often have to find the total length of stages and sets. These are commonly over many groups and round corners often taking a complex path.
could a Plugin be created that measures the length from outside the group/component ?
maybe giving you a 'Path/Line' at the end of the route you took and have a dimension on it?Just thinking about this to a further degree (i would imagine this is very tricky but maybe theres a mathematical solution) - could the plugin when encountering a low segmented arc
make a calculation to give the 'actual' length if it like a real vector-like line? its taken into account the real radius?I think thats explaining it ok - I'm struggling with the right terminology - please correct me if i'm wrong and theres a better way.
