Plugin Idea - Line length

Hi All,
An idea came to me from using the 'Select Path Tool' that comes with 'Sketch UV'

I often have to find the total length of stages and sets. These are commonly over many groups and round corners often taking a complex path.

could a Plugin be created that measures the length from outside the group/component ?
maybe giving you a 'Path/Line' at the end of the route you took and have a dimension on it?

Just thinking about this to a further degree (i would imagine this is very tricky but maybe theres a mathematical solution) - could the plugin when encountering a low segmented arc
make a calculation to give the 'actual' length if it like a real vector-like line? its taken into account the real radius?

I think thats explaining it ok - I'm struggling with the right terminology - please correct me if i'm wrong and theres a better way.
