I'm also interested, though my projects get into interior visualization as well. I think though that there were some issues mentioned in the course that indicated Evee is better suited for interiors. I'd like that explained. The course is worthwhile in itself, but I don't see its application to exteriors as yet. It might help you with blender 2.8 in general.
Thanks! This is what i gathered from reading the course outline! Hopefully Chipp would chip in regarding this!

Hi Chipp..
Are you planning on releasing a 'Definitely EEVEE: Definitive Exteriors' course? Being an architect (who does not always indulge in interior design) I would like to do some quick exterior renders using blender and eevee (using HDRi etc). Or do you think it will be helpful if i get the 'Definitely EEVEE: Definitive Interiors' and apply the concepts for exteriors? (PS : I am not proficient in using blender and so that is why i am hoping for someone to guide me through the paces)I'm also interested, though my projects get into interior visualization as well. Blender looks good BUT there doesn't seem to be a way to convert to quads that can be imported to Solidworks

Unfortunately, my time is limited currently as I'm dealing with some health issues, but your idea is on my list.
I don't see any reason exteriors would be difficult for EEVEE. FWIW, I'm also playing around with Blender XR which is a VR addon to Blender which would let you walk around in you interior.

Chipp,
Thanks for replying. Sorry to hear about your health issues. Get well soon and hope you come roaring back with that exteriors tutorial!
Best wishes! -

UBISOFT JOINS BLENDER DEVELOPMENT FUND TO SUPPORT OPEN SOURCE ANIMATION
Ubisoft Animation Studio (UAS), the in-house studio of Ubisoft Film and Television dedicated to creating animated films and series, will soon adopt the open-source animation software Blender as its main digital content creation (DCC) tool. Additionally, Ubisoft will support its development by joining the Blender Development Fund as a Corporate Gold Member.

Blender 2.80 has been officially released. Just updated the SketchUp Forum as well. Such a cool program & it's working nice & slick these days. Hard to compete with something that's free. Might make a few others pick up the game a little one can hope.

Great Timing...a local Adult Education Centre is having a 20-hr introduction to Blender/3D Animation this Fall. Hopefully I can get signed up.
I am SO looking forward to actually having a real person teach the course instead of trying to learn (yet another) modelling/rendering/animation program on my own. I always feel I've figured out just enough to get going but miss alot of the good stuff too. -

That's huge news and really secures / accelerates Blender development for the foreseeable future.

I downloaded it last night and plan to work through the intro tutorials in my free time over the next couple of weeks. It's a bit daunting (compared to SU), but the new interface is much cleaner and EEVEE looks incredible. Once I'm comfortable at a basic level, I'm going to try out Chipp's workflow: modeling in SU / rendering in Blender.
I'm excited to explore Blender: should be worth the effort of scaling the learning curve β and a good backstop against an unknown SU future.

One of the great things about Blender 2.8 is it's menu system is SO MUCH BETTER! You can now find just about anything your looking for in the menus, and see the shortcut keys too. I created this video below to help people setup Blender 2.8 for a paid course, but you're welcome to review it.

I sure wish there was something like that around where I'm at. Just doesn't ever seem to work that way.

LOL I was surprised to see it listed too in this Fall's Continuing Education book. They've had introductory ACAD for quite a long time and I think I saw Sketchup once. Might have been dreaming that one though. It's being offered in 2 locations- Eastside and Westside of the city in Toronto. The cost is CAD$180.
I tried to learn Blender myself many years ago but couldn't figure it out so I hope with the new version it will make a lot more sense and be a good basis for understanding Chip's tutorials. -
Check out Blender Guru YouTube Videos for another good Blender learning resource.
