Cherry Jewelry Box on Wormley Sideboard
-

A simple jewelry box in cherry based on Danish piece from about 1960. The original was in teak. As a cherry piece it makes me think of the Shaker-inspired work of Christian Becksvoort.
The corners are dovetailed and the lid sits on little brass pins when it is closed.

Great. And nice touch with the reflection.

Yeah. Very nice.

Nice! Is the weaving in the sideboard wood? leather?
-
Thank you, gentlemen.
The weaving is thin wood slats.
-
Very nice! Mid-century Shaker! The woven strips are really cool!

Thanks Peter.
I'm thinking about developing a plan to build the sideboard and maybe the jewelry box. I'd kind of like to build a sideboard for our dining room and I like the woven slats idea. They were easy enough in SketchUp. I don't think they'd be too difficult in real wood.
Here's a view straight out of SketchUp showing more of the sideboard with open drawers.
