The creators of lofting plugins get the real credit for this model. I had to use Fredo6's loft along path plus TIG's Extrude edges by rails and Chris Fullmer's shape bender. It's an approximation of a music stand that the late Wendell Castle created in the 1960s and 1970s.
Enjoy

Nice model. If I was to make one not sure I would have the patience to model it. A few pencil lines and I would be off the wood pile. Not much room for joinery at the legs. I would like to stuff in a small tenon but guess it is just a glue joint.

From what I've read, Castle doweled or glued rough pieces together, then carved the shape he wanted with chisels and grinders. Not unlike the way Sam Maloof made his rocking chairs. Probably an instance of the ends justifying the means.

Another nice one David. When I first saw the image I thought of Sam Maloof. Actually looks like it would be a fun project, all you need is patience in the shaping.

Thank you, tuna.

Wow! It was really beautiful. You are very creative

Thanks, emmetbrakus. I usually relish a challenge, but modeling the music stand quickly became a pain.
Wendell Castle, in my view, is a case study in failing upward. His pieces don't work as furniture or as sculpture, yet because of Castle's flair for self-promotion, they sell for thousands.

With this model, I can concentrate on listening to free ringtones from suoneriemp3.com, which is really great.
