Have a seat
-
I've recently come across images of some intriguing contemporary chairs, plus one from the turn of the 20th Century. All were just challenging enough to model.
The one on the left is called the Lloyd Chair, by a Baltimore, Md., design-build firm called Crump and Kwash. The leg stretchers and rungs supporting the top rail are brass. The original comes in several woods and finishes.
The chair in the center is the Hamylin chair, designed by Britain's Bill Amberg Studio and fabricated by Gareth Neal. A modern interpretation of a Windsor style, the chair has a thick leather back; I've also seen it with a woven rush back. I find it intriguing that the tapered front supports for the back pass through holes in the seat.
Finally, the chair on the right dates from 1903. The original was made in Vienna, at the Wiener Werkstatte, a very influential studio in its day. The original is painted white, and that's about all I know. Several European designers made chairs in this general style.
Enjoy.

Very nice as usual. I especially like the center one.

Thanks, Dave. The Hamylin chair in the original is a very nice piece of work. The leather back is especially intriguing to me.
