AI in SketchUp

Has anyone ever considered doing any AI or Artificial Life programming or testing using the SketchUp environment as the virtual world?
I've had some interest in this field ever since reading a book called Wetware by Dennis Bray.
It seems like SketchUp would provide an excellent graphical environment/interface for this sort of thing coupled with the Ruby API.
