Latest project

Hello all. Thought I'd share my latest commission, a "step tansu" cabinet (in Japanese, "kaidan Tansu"). approx. 63"x58", out of cherry. I still need to build a ladder that will sit on top, which will allow the client to reach their loft. As much as any project I've built, SketchUp was invaluable. Helping me design, figuring out joinery, keeping track of parts, layout, double checking all my details, etc. Took 3 months to build, it was a fantastic, and challenging experience. Thanks for looking!

Real nice! Actually hard to put into words admiration for such work and thankfulness that someone so talented is carrying on the tradition.

That's really nice of you. I really do love the work. I keep my bartending gig so I can be selective about the work I do.

Excellent work in SketchUp and in real life.

Thanks! Though it was a lot of work, in the model I actually did all the joinery as well- mortises and tenons, tongues and grooves, rabbets, bridle joints, etc. As I was building the piece in real life, I was glad I had all those details to refer to.
