If anyone is interested, I did a thing on drawing a volute with a rising center. It involves the Curve Maker extension and Chris Fulmer's very useful Shape Bender. I used a Bernoulli spiral but there are many other spirals to choose from. Even more than show on the toolbar.

Great tutorial on a slick technique. Thanks. If I ever get it into my head to model a violin, I'll know just how to create the end of the neck.
