    How to apply material to a "surface"

      I'm using the word "surface" here as I don't have a better name for it.
      What I would like to do via ruby is to mimic how the paint bucket can apply a material to
      a selection of faces that either have smooth/soft edges or where their outer loop is hard edges only.
