Seismic design software? (Big earthquake in Ecuador)
-
Hey, guys. Long time no post.
As you probably know, my country was severely hit by a M7.8 earthquake a week ago. I'm away from the epicenter, but a lot of people were not that lucky. It's the worst disaster almost anyone can remember in this country.
But we still have to keep building and rebuilding... I just wanted to know if you're aware of any software that can help with seismic design. Down here we use reinforced concrete structures (columns and beams), and we build the walls with bricks.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry about the disaster. I have some friends near Quito. I believe they are far away from affected areas. An engineering degree is probably the best SW.

Lots of technical papers on line. For example:

Hi, if you are a student Autodesk has lots of free software including the structural analysis software "Robot"
http://www.autodesk.com/products/robot-structural-analysis/overview
You can use Revit to design the buildings and Robot to check them.
