The cat warned the dog about an intruder, the dog said i'll deal with this; you go and hide ๐Ÿ˜‰

Gorgeous renders - love the moodiness of the de-saturated images.

I didn't acknowledge when I saw you post these on facebook mate, that they were your own work! Wow, the mood of that first internal shot is awesome! Did you do the glass to the stair entry with the AGS with real glass MXM for edges trick? Or all real glass?

Have you tried that trick though mate? It's so efficient, you still bevel but the bevels and edge use glass and faces of the glass in AGS. Much the same results, but fast!

Awesome! Love the black and white.

Richard, can you elaborate on the edge trick. "Did you do the glass to the stair entry with the AGS with real glass MXM for edges trick? Or all real glass?" AGS? MXM?

                          It's Maxwell Render speak mate!

AGS Architectural Glass Solution is a essentially a none material that has reflection so that light passes through it at no time cost.

MXM Maxwell material, hinting in this case as to real glass MXM.

The trick, and it's rather effective. To paint AGS materials on the front and back faces of the glass panel, whilst a real glass material is painted to the ends and bevels. It gives much the same result as all real glass but with little time costs in render.

In this example this trick is employed on the shower screen. Though not a great example as not strong light source is causing reflections or refractions of the bevels.

Yes Richard i am aware of it, it's a great little trick. I did try simple AGS planes at first but they looked wholly unrealistic at that range. Using this technique is a good work around. These tiny details like inside edges and bevels really do make a difference to realism. The scene was quite fast to clear perhaps because it was so transparent. If i'd hit the wall i would have used the AGS trick. There are some subtle bonuses with using all real glass like caustics, dispersion better reflections etc.

I wasn't completely satisfied with the sea surface in the 2nd image i posted as the texture was low res and pixelated at close range it looked kinda ugly. I did another 2 images afterwards. The first uses the Maxwell Sea modifier and the second a much larger image for the bump map. The last one with the tiny detailed waves i'm happy with.

I'm with you, the first of those is so much more dramatic, the dead calm gives it a feeling of the viewer being in the scene!

The sea modifier is epic it's hard to conceive it's all polygons for 10km2
