3D Truss Models

I think the original injury (rotator cuff, partial tear) was somehow reinjured which has caused inflammation (bursitis) which then has lead to impingement, long story short when I sit at a computer and use a mouse or keyboard for more than about 5 minutes I'm in pain, this is ridiculous.

I've been flat on my back for a week in bed. Yesterday I somehow willed myself to go to work, put on a shoulder brace, medicated and endured 8 hours of pain. Came home, ate dinner, and went right to bed. Woke up this morning and the pain has all but mysteriously disappeared. You tell me?
Crossing my fingers that this is real, tonight I might be back in the saddle .

Be well!

Still out of commission but I am slowly improving. I've been making very slow progress on the stepdown hip set maybe I can get it out by this weekend. I have a lot of people requesting it so I'm excited to actually get it released after promising everyone that it would be out 2 months ago.
After this experience all I can say is without your health you are pretty much nothing.

I've been slowly working on the stepdown hip truss set. Its been a bit more complicated than expected. I've also decided to make it auto select the common truss type by span but also allow the user to manually select the common truss type as well, yet another level of complexity. In addition I would also like to enable raised heels which again adds to the complexity of the required logic and amount of code required to make this work.
The user will be able to select the hip setback. This is usually 3x or 4x the truss spacing (ie. 6ft, 8ft with 24" o/c truss spacing). I could restrict this to some multiple of the truss spacing but I think I will leave it completely open ended for the user.
Once I have the initial module complete I will then add into the advanced options the ability to use a drop-in purlin frame.
Another item to consider is the depth of the top chord and bottom chord of the jack trusses, this should be independent from the main trusses. Typically all of this is determined when the trusses are engineered (ie. Mitek software) but in this case we are not engineering these trusses, merely generating the geometry so all of these values become user determined.

Thanks for being so thorough, Nathaniel! Looking forward to the next update of your amazing plugins!

If I'm going to take the time and energy to program something like this I might as well do it right. Even with that attitude I still miss a few things.

Yesterday I finally had the MRI done on my neck. They found a herniated disk between my C6 and C7 vertebrae which was pinching the nerve extending into my arm (cervical radiculopathy). This explains all of my symptoms. I don't know why it took almost 2 months for them to figure this out but it did. It is very strange that I would have so much localized pain in my shoulder though but I guess it turns out it is my neck, crazy.
I think it is healing itself over time but it could just be the painkiller (GABAPENTIN) is working fairly well at the moment. I'm waiting on a cervical epidural steroid injection at the injury site. If this does not work it may be surgery since the symptoms in my right arm are quite severe and debilitating, and not something I can live with long term.

Has anyone had a chance to run the plugin much within SU 2017. I loaded it up yesterday and didn't encounter any problems, so for now I'm going to assume that its compatible with 2017.
On a different note I've got my injection coming up on Tuesday, fingers crossed that it works and solves my issues that I've been dealing with the last 2-3 months.

I've done a little playing and all appears to work fine.

SU 2017
Bug SPlatch (Closing SU) With Draw Minor Roof / Gable Dormer (and repeatitive)But it's my fault!
I don't choose an inclined Plane!
So you must make something about that!Where we can see that Chris is not exactly at the ground 0 !

Wish you good luck with your treatment... miserable to be sidelined and in pain.
Haven't commented on this thread before, but have been following it closely and been impressed with both the rate of development and the ambitious scope of your extension.
Hope to see you back in shape and rocking your work in the near future.

I've just had a request for a dual pitch gable roof (rafter). I've seen plenty of dual pitch truss roofs but I've never seen a rafter roof that has different pitches on each side, not to say that this can't be done. Any thoughts on this?
If it is something that people will use I will add it to the to-do list.

They happen, but very seldom.

The problem isn't so much that they don't come along often, it's when they DO come along you need the tool NOW! I don't normally design dual pitches either but up in the Sierra Nevada mountains (in the snow) it's done quite a bit.

This is an example of the wireframe (temporary) graphic that is shown while creating a valley set.

My last release was way back in the middle of September its almost been 2 months. Even with my being severely sidelined and unable to accomplish much with its development the number of new registrations and downloads of the plugin has remained quite steady, much to my surprise. This tells me that the plugin has some value to the design community and has given me a renewed positive outlook for its future.
The feedback has also been quite heavy with a number of very good ideas for improvements and new features. I really appreciate this feedback, it has to a large degree shaped the development thus far.
Looking at my to-do list I probably have enough work to keep me busy for two years working full time (8+ hours a day). At this point I'm not sure how I'm going to get it all done.

It's good to hear the plugin / extension is making headway in the market!

Pace yourself, draft an outline plan of what you would like to accomplish, allow for setbacks and possibly minor features / improvements you may want to do. But I'm sure you know all of this and have done so already...

I've repackaged the .rbz file this morning so that when it installs into SU 2017 the extension will have the appropriate hash file and appear as "signed". I have not yet rolled the revision (1.7.0) which includes the updates for stepdown hip truss sets, there is still substantial work before I am ready to release that module and version.
