Didn't know where to post this but thought some of you might find this interesting. All data came from the national map website, img files for elevation, jpg2000 files for the aerials. The img files were put together in Infraworks, sent to 3D Max, exported in sections as 3ds and then imported and put back together in SU. Jpg2000 files were put together in Photoshop, size reduced by a whole bunch, then imported into SU and painted on the topo. Navagation is still pretty fluid as is drawing. Exploding, saving, and moving objects is pretty slow. Next is drawing all the roads and water areas and placing trees and what little buildings there are. Then to see if LumenRt can render it out.

Interesting. Curious, why if you have 3ds max you are doing this in SU? And you're making a model of existing conditions. To show some development?

LumenRT will be able to render it out, getting it into LRT may be the only issue, the processing time even on draft may be a loooong time.

@krisidious and pbacot yes it's for visuals for a development, industrial.

@pbacot yes I have 3ds Max but know how to only do simple things in it and have no idea how to create things to the correct size. Originally I wanted to do this in Infraworks but everytime I brought in the shape files for roads, rails, and water areas the terrain was getting all screwy and I kept getting crashes.

@solo I tested just exporting the terrain to LRT on draft and it only took a few minutes so hopefully when everything else is added it won't be too bad or maybe I'll just have to export it in pieces, I think the real issue will be rendering out an animation with superior lighting.
