Maya Lin Chaise Longue
-
Saw this today on the 1stdibs.com web site. Maya Lin, who became famous for designing the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed this piece for Knoll International in 1988. It was her first stab at commercial furniture design. The original, which she named the "Longitude" chaise, has a black leather seat, a fabric pillow at the head, and metal posts for legs and supports.

Very conceptual and comfortable!

Yes, pilou. I can see myself spending many hours stretched out on this.

Interesting piece. Hot-molded plywood? Are there drawers in the box? The practical side of me would want them.

Dave,
Plywood, yes. Drawers, probably not. I think the box is just a great big box. Impractical, but it sure looks comfortable.
