      Hi all.

I use a workflow to create architectural plans taken from the Nick Sonder architect Layout/ Sketchup Process tutorials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3xUOAicq-Y

The Sketchup model is inserted into the Layout file as a raster image linked to a specific scene in the original Sketchup file... ie adjustments in the Sketchup model are reflected in the Layout file. Architectural linework, however is created in Sketchup but then Copied into the layout file as a Vector or Hybrid image. When pasted into the layout file, it appears in the Document Setup - References window as an Embedded file, with the file name automatically generated as something like <number string>_Clipboard Sketchup*<number string>.skp, where "<number string>*" is a seemingly random number in each case.

So the recurring problem that I have been having in this and in previous versions of Layout/Sketchup is that occasionally these embedded files will not display on screen or in print. If I highlight the area where the image should be in Layout, the bounding box containing it appears, as does the exclamation mark (!) warning triangle denoting that the selection needs to be rendered again. However rendering does not make the actual line work re-appear. Also when going in to the Document setup - References window, the entries for the affected line work are still there and still showing as Embedded, however the 'clipboard' filenames mentioned above are now blank - i.e. no filename showing at all. I am not able to 'Re-link" as I don't know where these embedded files have been stored and even if I did, the file names that were there are made up with random strings of numbers, so I would not know which file was correct anyway.

I hope this description of the problem makes sense. Is this something that any of you have encountered - I'm hoping it is just a case of my stupidity and there's an easy fix! It's been driving me a little crazy as the only way of fixing it that I have so far is to delete all of the affected embedded items and then copy and paste them all in from SketchUp again... Very frustrating ad time consuming!

      Thanks, Alec.

I am pretty sure i am having the same problem. the embedded clipboard line work has been replaced with a circled dot in the upper left hand corner of the drawing on every page. Does any one know what has happened??
        Regards Chris

I believe all your leaders were linked to a model that simply got unreferenced in the LO file.

          Is that it?

          Probably I'm missing the point...

That sound about right. How would I fix something like that. I have been copying and pasting from sketchup to layout. I am not sure if that is the right way to do it. Should I be using the send to lay out option?

All you should have to do is Update the Reference in LO (once you've saved the latest changes in SU). Copy and past from SU to LO is not needed for model references.
