      Hi!

      I cant find a solution for this problem on my own. I need your help.

      I am trying to build a Joystick gimbal. The mechanism is very strait forward and simple. I want to test the forces and behavior on sketchy physics. Well... trying to animate it with sketchy physics turned to be another challenge for me.

      As you already know it a joystick will move in 2 DOF; X,Y axis. You push, pull and yaw it and when the force is released it turns back to the original state. To model this behavior I need to use spring joint but they work only in linear motion, on the other hand the gimbal rotates in circular motion. So it locks the motion only in one axis and because of that the hinges wont rotate. How can I solve this problem with sketchy physics?

      Simply asking "How can I turn back a mechanism to its original state when the force is released?"

        If I understand your question right, you need the spring to follow the arc of the control stick end. Try putting a hinge at each end of the spring so that it can change it's orientation in space as the stick end moves through it's arc. You may need a mount of some sort to connect hinge/spring/hinge joints.
        Does that make sense to you?

          Thank you for your answer. Yes you understand correctly. the spring must follow the arc. I will try your suggestion asap. I hope I can do it as it is a little bit complicated for me. I need to level up.

            I'[m not sure if joints and springs will join together. If they don't, place a small block between them to anchor to. That make sense?

                  I exported the SP animation to KerkyThea and rendered directly. Kerkythea saved everyframe to my desktop within a folder (which is starting with "Anim_*") in jpg format. Then I used the free MakeAVI software to merge all the jpg's as a movie.

                  I am not happy with the quality and the flickering of the shadows. I don't know how to fine tune KerkyThea.
