I have sent you, by PM, a plugin that should do what you asked.

Nothing is worthless, it can always be used as a bad example.

Is this related to some developer advanced requirement, because this sounds like the "Scenes" window to me?

with the scenes windows, you cannot choose the scene you want to show on the screen

          with dsmitch plugin, you can

On the Mac if I double-click on the scene name in the Scenes window it switches the SU window to that scene. This looks like a nice compact scene "picker". Would people want this in a contextual menu?

This would be a game changer if we could group or filter scenes like Jiminy did with his plugin for layers.

                • Filter : all scenes starting with X would be filtered in or out of that dropdown and would stay that way until filter would change to nothing or to something else.

                • Group (more sophisticated) Like Jiminy's but for scenes... maybe if you'd be interested and you guys would speak as he has all the UI already polished.

                Thanks,

                João

I am soooo following this thread! Hopefully there will be some progress / resolve to scene management & filtering.

Filtering maybe. Grouping, I'm not so sure.

                      Filtering would be good enough...

filtering does add a feature compared to the native scenes management window, for models with a huge number of scenes

I came back to this thread because i thought the work you did could be used to manage attributes instead of scenes

There are a few plugins already to manage attributes, but they are more for programmers, too complicated for normal users of sketchup, and they add attributes only; no feedback from the attributes

the idea would be a plugin like "select by attribute":

it would collect all the attributes in the model
open a html window like the one you made for scene picker, to show them
after choosing the attribute, the plugin would select all the objects in the model related to this attribute

I haven't seen a plugin like this yet

If you could PM me a sample model, <=2014, to play with, I'll see what I can do.
