I'm so excited about JJ Abrams directing the next trilogy.

Here are some sneak peaks from TMZ

Star Wars Episode VII Spoilers -- Super Secret Pics FROM THE SET!

Earlier this month in a galaxy far far away, known as Abu Dhabi, J.J. Abrams began filming "Star Wars: Episode VII" ... and TMZ has obtained pics from the ultra-secretive set -- including one GIANT creature.

I'm assuming this is part of Tatooine.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm surprised that creature in the first image wasn't CGI'd.

I was reading about this and they are trying to use more real models and less CG in this as well as filming it with real film and not digital. There will be CG but they did not want this to be all CG.

They've stated recently that there will be 3 more after these 3.

I wonder why "real film" and not digital? They are both nothing but a medium, but I would think digital would be so much easier for editing and distribution.

Film [media] is still considered the 'art', and the quality far superior, the major disadvantages are actually the 'shoot' day logistics, matching stock, waiting for rushes and clearances...

the majority of british films I have worked on use both, digital for high speed and super high speed action, film for dialog and majestic images...

                    digital is catching up...

both are expensive to do well, but digital can be done on the 'cheap'...

I have friends working on this series of films and they say that security is the most extreme they have ever encountered...

I do special physical effects, and a lot of these can be enhanced with digital effects, but not economically replaced... [ yet ]
