Geforce GTX750Ti/GTX760gaming/Quadro?
-
At the moment I'm about to buy a new desktop but I am doubting about which graphic card to use.
Setup:
cpu: Intel i7-4930K (no integrated graphic chip)
motherboard: Asus P9X79
memory: 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance LP
ssd: OCZ Vertex 460 120Gb (maybe upgrading to 240Gb)
cooling: Scythen Mugen 4 PCGH
power: Be Quite! Pure Power L8 630W (depending on the choice of the graphic card)For rendering I use the normal VRay so it will use the CPU and not the graphic card.
I was advised to take a MSI GeForce GTX760 gaming for the graphic card though some people thought that was too much and advised a GeForce GTX750Ti. I've also read some good things on using a professional Quadro card instead.
I'm looking for a graphic card which will make Sketchup run smooth, even when using largers scenes (around 100MB).
The card needs DVI dual link or (preferably) Display Port connection for my Dell U2713H monitor.
Who's got any thoughts about this?
Thanks.

Welcome to SCF.
Firstly I'd say any modern Nvidia card will work great with Sketchup, so do not worry there.
As for rendering, I do not know about the new Vray and how it works with GPU, however do not exclude GPU rendering as a better faster solution, I use Thea4SU and now use GPU 90% of the time as it's so fast. If indeed you do think of using GPU for rendering in future, then make your decision based on the Vram first as that will enable you to render bigger and heavier scenes.

Who's got any thoughts about this?Pity we never know if the gfxcard is the bottleneck or the cpu.
But if you look at these numbers a gtx750Ti is not the way to go if you ever plan to load more heavy scenes. http://www.hwcompare.com/17292/geforce-gtx-750-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-760/
edit: I almost never have 100Mb scenes but when I do, my gtx560ti448 is struggling and that one has several better specs compared to the gtx750ti. Still, we don't know if my cpu or the gpu is 'killing' the performance...

I have no experience with using the GPU for rendering. How does this work? Do I need a special VRay (RT) or is it something the 'normal' VRay version can do as well?
Basically I'm planning to use the CPU (hence the i7-4960K)and not GPU.
