      I thought they were fabulous. Unlike any of the kitschy nonsense I associate with these kinds of events. Especially the Russian Constructivist episode. And I wonder how many people were needed to pull it off, how many teams, how many organizers and so on.

        I was impressed with the "flies"!!. I worked theater years ago, and to have those types of flies, that big, that heavy, is a feat of engineering!!!!!

          I loved those projections, I hear they used 120 projectors, wow, that must have been some serious head scratching work.

            I can't even imagine! 60 each side all controlled by a central network hub, the network, the individual camera control for sync.....mind blowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

              I thought they were very nice. I think all the Olympic opening ceremonies within recent memory have been very nice. The torch lighting was done well (each host always tries to do something unique). I did notice, though, that this was the first one I recall where the Olympic flag was not accompanied by an honor guard when raised.
