Abaca Lamp effect

Hi guys, can somebody give me a hand with this, I need to do a Skin Facade into a modern buiding, and the effect need to be like the Modern Abaca Lamp or like the Criminal Court of Rafael de La Hoz Architects.
Is there some plugin to perform this random helical rings over a curved surface?
I was looking for it and I didn't found anything even similar. Am I wrong?

You can start with a cylinder and some arcs with TOS (tools on surface)...

One by One at hand
Each helical ring resulting is a unique group and then I'll make some offset and pull.
