Insert images at scale

I wish LO would maintain the paper space size of images inserted. Makes it tedious to bring n scaled pdf drawing or title blocks when LO arbitrarily resizes images.
I wish a normal (rectangular) cropping function were provided for inserted images. The masking function now used is OK for irregular masks but is a PITA in general use. Something more like Keynote has would be helpful too, where one can edit the mask in different ways. But just a non-destructive crop (that can be relinked as now) would be best.

Richard, you know perhaps that if you don't want LO to resize an import you have to make the paper much bigger than normal. So I have a template with a 60" square paper. I import images in the big template. then paste into the regular file. So I can bring in CAD images without losing the scale.

Mate why dont you just do it once > save the file as a scrapbook > drag image to page of new file from scrapbook and relink to new image!
One of the issues the developers will have is that a dialogue would need to open on importing images that would allow you to set the image dimensions. Images don't have a size other than dots. A nominated dots per inch defines their size in use!

Edit OK Now I think I see what you mean. if I have a properly sized image installed as a scrapbook item, updating the link should bring it in at the proper size. Hmmm. First I did not know srapbook items can have links. So I should be able to save a 24 x36 pdf as scapbook and revise the link for any 24 x 36 pdf.
I'm thinking mainly of pdf file imports. There IS a size. It's normal scale. LayOut is a paper space application. What it puts out is based on real world dimensions of a sheet of paper. Images are made to be printed at a particular size with text at the correct size, 2d drawings in scale etc. If I import a drawing that is drawn to scale, I want it to print at the correct scale.

For sure mate pdf import one would trust comes in at real world size. I certainly works this way with Indesign.
