        I'd guess that's supposed be the concrete used to bind the tiles and the roof.
        But the tiles must touch horizontally!

          Funny, that looks like a style of adding mortar so it looks rustic, but not done commonly. Bob, don't see what you mean. There are pan tiles (Light colored) in the picture. Does this make a tileable texture?

            it just makes a pdf... I cropped the image and used it as a texture. it tiled pretty well.

              I think Bob means the bottom row is over laid by the top row. I think you're right about it being fake mortar.

                I'm used to S-tiles which make the "pan" area and the tile the same color (i.e.; not a common color for the whole pan)

                  Around here it's called a "boosted tile" and is supposed to mimic an old, mudded tile roof. Roofers charge extra for it, and even Boral has created a concrete tile to look like it too (see here)!
