So I recently had to "upgrade" to Windows 8 (my 4yr old laptop died a sudden death - CPU went bad) apparently the hardware in these budget laptops is now Win8 only (no win7 drivers for networking, etc.) so there's not even the option of going back to using win7. Anyhow, I had been quite happy with all my software setup, but now on Win8, I notice ACAD 2010 LT is not running quite as happily in this new OS. (the menu bar colors are messed up - which is not relevant to performance, just ugly. The only troubling thing is that when I close ACAD, it doesn't completely close and I have to "end task" in the task manager")

I just took a look at the latest ACAD LT, and for the life of me I can't se a single reason besides Win8 compatibility why I should upgrade. Seems like throwing money out the "window" to me. Is there even a single compelling reason to upgrade (Seems to me a somewhat familiar tune as the SU8 to SU2013 "upgrade" πŸ’š ) Also, if anyone knows a solution to ACAD not shutting down properly in Win8.

      Andy

Not sure if this is any help & probably out of date info. When I upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 my ancient ACAD 2004 wouldn't run, so we opened it through administrator... might work for you.

          now this is bad...
Did you search the intel site (or who ever made the network chip) for drivers? I think there should be something for Win7 even if the notebook producer isn't supporting it officially. The only Problem could be the track pad or other "special" drivers.

But having to buy a not needed acad update only for Win8 is really bad...

            Found a solution! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833114074
I have this adapter now, it works like a charm. Now I can connect my win7 computer and have things working as before on the new machine. πŸ˜„
