Wow. Exquisite model. God keep the Hood and the many brave men that went down with her. The story is legendary. 1400 went down. 3 survived.

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy

Wow, can we get some more images of the model, maybe some close ups with hidden geometry on?, as it looks brilliant mind boggling detail.

                            Thank you everyone.

Jacob, it took 6 days altogether after a couple of false starts on the Hull.
DavidH, she certainly had a great story, you can only imagine so much bravery!
Bryan, I'ts all really basic sketchup, the only plugins used are Extrude Edges by Rails, part of TIG's brilliant extrusion tools, BZ conversion tools (polyline segmenter) and my favourite plugin, Pipe along Path.
Pete, hope you can see these ok.

Fantastic stuff John, as ever. Have you noticed the similarity to the tribal class destroyers of the same timeframe? The superstructure, especially at the rear, is uncannily close perhaps the work of the same designers. You do have Hood riding very high in the water, these vessels shipped huge amounts of water in heavy swells due to the low freeboard.

Absolutely. She took one shell and went down in a matter of minutes.

I'd be fine if you didn't model the Bismark. Although I wouldn't blame if you did. Britain got some payback on her a few days later.๐Ÿ˜„

Sorry mate but Hood took between three and five shells depending on which report you take most relevence from, the germans think three shells the Royal navy think five. The shot that killed Hood just happened to benefit from the lack of depth to the armoured deck and exploded inside the aft 15" magazine which rather bent the ship out of shape. There is a similarity to the loss of the USS Arizona where what was considered to be one explosion in the aft magazine was in fact a number of conflagrations involving the stern AND the bow magazines, some say due to improper safety installations.

Mike, you'll be correct about her height in the water, I know zilch about boats.
I've been asked to make a walk-through by Bryan and a couple of others, so after the weekend I'm going to start The Bismark so will keep images as I progress. She seems much more complex than the Hood.

An reenactment of that famous battle sounds good! maybe I'll change history or cause another war ๐Ÿ˜’
