Winder staircase in knotty pine and red oak

Put the upper treads in yesterday and today. Starting out, it was taking me almost two hours per, but one per by tread #13. Thanks to Sketchup for helping me map this out and get it built. The carriages (seen in xray) were pattern-cut from full sized templates printed to paper and glued to the LSL stock. I exported each part to Chief Architect, and printed from there.
Balustrade next.

Beautiful... I wouldn't mind having that.

Nice work, Gene.
After modeling it in SketchUp, did it ever feel like you were building it for a second time?

all the time

Beautiful job. An attractive and innovative way to add interest and solve (I assume) a space problem. How you laid out the tread plan, I'd like to know but it probably isn't easy to explain.

Looks fantastic!
