DC Grating - two versions

OK, while modeling I need to use grating for walkways. I have tried using an image. However, I found that an image bloats the file more than the an actual modeling of the grating. So I have made two DC components of grating. One has two flat bars and the other use one flat bar and one 6 sided bar.
Both of these DC use groups as the sub parts in the component definition. Why groups, because in installing grating you will need to modify the perimeter of the grating, and if you use a component for all the bars definition, it becomes hard to modify each and every bar of the grating.
Just practicing.
Question, anyone know of any book or resource for creation of DC?
