Great to see you on board Gareth! Good luck, we're all here to help if you have any questions. πŸ˜„

I recommend an EVOD BCC for your first E-Cig. Easy to use, cheap and reliable. You will find it quite difficult to pick up a cigarette after enjoying a good vape!

Let us all know how you get on. πŸ‘

Update on my iTaste MVP V2 box mod...

Great so far. Really easy to use, excellent build quality. The battery has lasted over a day without charging!! Normally I would change my battery 3-4 times a day! Such a relief.

It's quite a large setup so not something I would take out in public, looks like a walkie talkie πŸ˜† . But for a device to keep at home or on long trips it's ideal and definitely a keeper.

Kwistenbiebel, you mention you are living in Western Australia now....I am in Adelaide

Do you buy yours over the internet, or are there some shops where you can purchase them from ?

AU$195......I have no idea if that's a good price or not.

That's right, I have a normal Provari, awesome vape, cannot go wrong there.

It's not different from mine it just has a different atomizer head. The price is normal, but I find it very expensive for what you actually get.

The provari mini is a nice size but with bigger atomizers the battery only lasts a couple of hours. Build quality really is excellent though. I would recommend getting the normal size Provari (like Pete's) over the mini purely for extra battery life.

The starter kits are OK but you will quickly start looking for something better. If you are looking for a starter kit I recommend the EVOD BCC over the Ego atomizer, so you will need to find another website if you want a good starter setup.

It all depends how much you want to spend of course...if you want to spend more we can point you towards some higher end setups. What budget you looking at?

Hope things are still going well for you Pete. πŸ‘

                    Hiya Oli,

Money isn't the dealbreaker really, something reliable and of good quality is though. And getting everything I need all at once is also important.

And I am getting a little confused when I see words like atomiser, cartomiser and clearomiser...!! Some of the deals i read say these are extras...which is even more confusing.

I'll get there in the end....but need to be active about this while I am still keen.

FYI, I get great battery life, I vape 2x more than I smoked (2 packs a day) and my battery lasts more than a day.

The atomiser/clearomiser/cartomiser is the part that turns liquid into smoke. A.K.A. Atty/Atties for short.

They generally come in 2 sizes....small ones like the EGO or EVOD and 22mm varieties like the ones Pete, Chris and I use. The 22mm atomizers are generally the higher-end ones, hold more liquid and give better flavour.

Drippers are a type of atomizer that don't generally hold any liquid and need to be direct dripped with liquid...not something you can use out and about but they are known for best flavour/vapour production, but again, limited to a home setup.

I can only go off what I and others here have tried and enjoyed....

I would stay away from rebuildable atomizers (or genesis style) at first. They will confuse you and distract from the vaping experience. They take a few attempts to get right and a beginner would become lost in volts, watts, resistance, coils etc. Rebuildable atomizers include my Kayfun 3.1 and the new SQuape. They are customisable as you can change air flow and also flavour, throat hit etc by tweaking the coil.

The most popular 22mm atomisers are the Vivi Novas and Innokin SVDs....generally due to the price and tank capacity. These do not need to be rebuilt; you just buy new coils and screw them in (cheap).

The "mod" is the battery part of a vaping device. Investing in a good mod means you only ever need to upgrade your atomiser if you need to.

I have only ever used the Provari and it really is excellent, only recently I bought the big battery mod to keep at home. Again, I would go for the normal size over the mini for battery life. The Provari is a 22mm mod so you will need a 22mm atomizer to fit right.

When you have chosen your mod, choose your atomiser. There are so many to choose from but make sure they have a 510 connection to mate with the Provari.

Basically you need a 22mm mod, 22mm atomizer, replacement coils, E-Liquid, 2 batteries and a charger.

You seem to be tending towards a better rig so this is why I recommend the 22mm setup over something like the EVOD. It also means you can start thinking about better atomizers or even rebuildables in the future.

The EVOD is a fantastic bit of kit which I use on nights out due to size, you wouldn't be disappointed and they are quite cheap. It's up to you how you take this...either by a cheap setup to try out vaping or buy the best and never smoke again. I can safely say with a Provari and a decent atomiser you won't smoke again.

                              Yeh..!!

There are a couple of Web based 'eShops' who are (or claim to be) in Adelaide....they could be anywhere really couldn't they ?!!

I reckon eShops are less risky than renting expensive retail space and if the government happens to change the rules for eCigs and vaping, it will have less impact on their businesses if things turn pear shaped.

But from my point of view, a walk in shop would be handy and less confusing than the websites.

It seems to me most shops only sell Ego devices. I've never been in a vape shop that has a range of 22mm mods for example, in fact, I've never even seen an EVOD in a walk-in shop. It's an internet dominated industry.

In the UK I see most vaping devices being sold from corner shops and petrol stations, which is great but there is no choice.

I got the impression somewhere that Australia may be strict on e-cig regulation so perhaps that's why you won't find many shops. I may be completely wrong, but that's what I heard.

There is an aussie vaping forum, might be worth a try posting a question on there to see where people go for better setups. Kwistenbiebel may not reply for a few days so at least you can get cracking with information from that forum?

If your heart is set on a Provari then all you need to do is choose your 22mm atomiser.

I will ask for recommendations on the vaping forum I use and see what people say....like I said, we can only recommend either the vivi nova, innokin SVD or the kanger pro tank because that's all we've tested in that size. Apart from the Kayfun which is rebuildable but truly excellent.

I highly recommend a Kayfun but not as a beginner setup, try and stay away from rebuildables until you have found a nice E-liquid and are confident with how you like to vape.

Will let you know what the forum comes back with....shouldn't be too long. πŸ‘

Just to avoid confusion, the innokin atty is called the iClear30....the SVD is the mod, not the atty. Sorry about that.

                                      Gareth,

Looks like the Vivi Nova or Innokin iClear 30 are the only 22mm atties that are suitable.

The Vivi Nova is a tried and tested favourite but the Innokin also has a good name. Both have replaceable coils, so that's easy and cheap.

If you go for the Vivi Nova make sure you get the latest version.

Innokin also sell a cheap mod called the SVD but I think you will find the Provari better quality.

                                      Again, you will need:

A 22mm mod, Vivi Nova or iClear 30, Spare replacement coils, 2 batteries, a charger and plenyty of E-liquid.

How many do you smoke a day? If you smoke around 20 then go for a nicotine strength of 18-24mg.

24mg may blow your head off so perhaps try the 18mg first.

                                      oli

I smoke a pack a day (Dunhill) so that's 25 a day and I've been doing that for 30 years.....and at $19 a pack it wont take long before I get my money back on the cost of vape kit, let alone my health...!

I saved so much money and you will too. It makes you wonder how/why we pay that much for cigarettes!

You want the E-liquid to completely satisfy your nicotine craving so go for an 18mg or 24mg liquid to begin with. Like I said 24mg may be a bit too much but at least you will have more than enough nicotine to stop any craving.

I started with 24 and 18, now I'm on 12, tried 8 but not quite ready to go so low.
