Hi guys ,
This is just a wonderful thread.
I smoke 20 light cigarettes a day and seeing all the excitement on digital smoking here, I am jumping on .
Ordered myself a couple of EVOD BCC clearomisers to be fitted on EGO-C twist battery packs.
Basically it's the Sketchup of the e-cigs isn't It ,
Pete is on the 3DsMax of all vapes (Provaria?) so there is a picking order too lol .
As it is not legal to sell nicotine in Australia, I ordered some juice from Hongkong and NZ.It would be so awesome to be able to say that Sketchucation made an end to my cigarette addiction .
Hail guru .A couple of weeks before the mail orders are in and I will be vaping away. Fingers crossed .
Go for it Chris, I am 11 weeks cigarette free as of yesterday. I never gave up smoking, I just gave up smoking cigarettes, vaping is by far more satisfying.

woo hoo!! more quitters! best of luck guys!
I guess the Ego Twist is a variable voltage battery? Yes I would say you have the SketchUp of E-Cigs but with a variable voltage plugin!
Yeah the Provari is excellent! In fact when I saw Pete's I just had to get one myself! The new kid on the block is now the Svoemesto Semovar, but I won't be changing because I'm more than happy with the Provari. I bought an EVOD as well for when I'm out and about due to its nice small size.
Pete is right, vaping is far more satisfying. Find a good juice and there is no reason to ever pick up a cigarette again.
Speaking of juices; I have ordered a DIY kit where you can mix your own flavours. It works out significantly cheaper than buying 10ml, 30ml or 50ml bottles. Plus I know these have been lab tested and completely safe to vape. This is all the E-liquid companies do....mix up a batch and then sell at an inflated price.
So I ordered:
250ml nicotine PG base (54mg)
250ml PG
250ml VG
Flavour concentrates (Juicy Fruit, Blueberry and Strawberry)
5ml syringes
30ml mixing bottles
De-ionised waterAll you have to do is use a mixing calculator and mix everything up. The nicotine base is 54mg because you have to dilute it with the VG and PG to achieve your desired level.
With the mixing calculator you can set your final nicotine level, the percentage of flavouring, the VG/PG ratio and how much E-Liquid you want to end up with; it's really quite simple.
Will let everyone know how I get on and take some photos of the kit.

Chris, twist is SU +Artisan. Like most vapers say, you'll be able to find the "sweet spot"
That means, you'll set the voltage according to your resistance ohms. A sweet spot is the perfect setting for you in order to get the perfect amount of vapours, th, temperature of the vapours. That's very subjective, from vaper to vaper. Check this graphic chart and stay in the green zone!
I started to vape almost when Pete started. I haven't smoked since. I could not thank Oli enough for this thread. So thank you Oliver once again, and congrats for everyone!
-
Thanks for the Vape chart, this helps, glad to see I was spot on (2,8 Ohm at 4.2 volts), I did it by taste and feel. I agree this thread changed my life, maybe even gave me more life to live.
-
Thanks for the tips guys .
I admit I am smoking more cigarettes now in anticipation of 'Sketchup + Artisan' to arrive .
Indeed, I am attracted to the variable intake so I can fine tune.
While waiting for mail, I keep on 'lurking' (pun intended) here to 'absorb' more tips .I can imagine vaping away while reading a 'SU 2014 wishlist' thread, makes the annoyance less lol .

No worries guys, I'm really happy (and surprised) you have all adopted vaping so quickly! I said that if only one person quit I'd be happy, but now there's a whole bunch of us!!
Thanks for the chart Stefan. I had been using Ohm's Law Calculator but this is a quick and easy reference.
Got my DIY E-Liquid this morning, gonna watch some tutorials and I'll make my first batch. Gonna go back to 12mg nicotine, 16mg is a bit too much for me now.

Post a video of you making your first batch.

I'll probably mess up the first lot!
This is the best information I've seen:

Just mixed up my first batch of DIY E-Liquid (Juicy Fruit flavour, like the chewing gum). It really is easy and very satisfying! Much cheaper than buying small bottles of premixed liquids. Sorted!!
-
Got my packs so it's day one
Has extra batteriy and chager. Still looks like a "regular" cig
First tries ... feels and tastes as "usual"may the vapping commence

great news markus! good luck!

My first observations after having the set ....
Tobacco taste vape is yuk.
Vanilla (without nicotine) is yummy .Still smoking cigarettes , meh ...less though , about 10 a day (opposed to 20 before)
-
You'll find many people start using a tobacco flavour and quickly adopt fruity flavours. I personally can't stand tobacco flavours any more. Fruit is where it's at! When you find a good flavour you'll never look back, try get yourself into a good vape shop and sample some. I must have gone through 20 or so flavours before I settled on Juicy Fruit and Blueberry. I highly recommend DIY mixing when you have discovered your favourite flavours. Good work though halving your cigarette intake.....and that's even without nicotine in the liquid! Great stuff!
-
I dunno, I still like tobacco flavors, especially the Turkish blends, one thing for sure is if I drink beer I do not want to vape a fruity flavor, that is where the tobacco flavor works best.
-
Maybe I've not tried a good one. I had RY4 for a while but it wasn't for me in the end. I've got a selection of different flavour concentrates to try for DIY liquid, so maybe I'll have more luck there. I do occasionally crave a tobacco flavour when I smell someone smoking....just not had a nice, smooth one yet. Many of them seem to have a nutty-smokey flavour like Marlboro Reds which I'm not keen on.
Can't beat vaping and drinking!!

Hi Olishea,
I too am tempted to go for more mild sweet tastes.
Berries are yum, and I feel really good when vaping the vanilla.
I enjoy letting the vape run through my nose on exhaling, such a nice taste .I got a bottle of flavorless 24 mg nicotine mix (PG 70%-30%) to mix with flavor juices ('doubling').
My first observation is that any mixture with more than 12 mg nicotine is too much for me.
So I guess I will be a low nicotine vaperer .
It's not just that I feel the nicotine (in back of throat, little tingling in arms even), it's also that to me it tastes bad.
I had the opportunity to taste the difference between no nicotine and 12 mg nicotine of the same vape, and it's clear to me that the nicotine adds a bitter chemical taste.I am quite pleased by that observation, making me want to reduce nicotine intake to 0 over time .
@Rich O Brien,
Thank you for the link.
I too think that e-cigarettes will take over 'analogs', it is just crazy that we were all smoking the tobacco rubbish for years.
At the same time I remain cautious of e-cigarettes too.
As in the article, we are supposed to breath air, and anything that is chemically added to that, intuitively appears less healthy.
So I keep track if the media on health tests.
The only downside I currently experience is dehydration because the PG extracts water, thus dehydrates.
I will look into pure VG vapes, though would have to change gear for that (a glass vivi nova container perhaps?).Also , the evolution that the big current tobacco brands jump the bandwagon on e-cigs, gives me a somewhat cautious attitude.
Simply cause I don't trust them....what 'extra' products would they be adding to e-juice, that are perhaps more addictive etc...
Perhaps that is paranoia on my side, still....All in all, the e-cigarette is my mate for now .
It's the lesser evil one , and I settle for it when it can get me away from the tobacco .The Plume Room seems to be a well known store (US) for delicate mild sweet vapors so I ordered some of their blends.

Thanks for link Rich.
That's why I started DIY E-Liquid. The company I buy from batch-test all of their products in an independent laboratory (cloud9vaping). I know their stuff is safe to vape and I mix everything myself now....they're all UK and Europe sourced ingredients.
Ihighly recommend people only buy from reputable, well-established companies if you are buying pre-mixed liquids. Go with the bigger names; I know they can be slightly more expensive but worth it IMO.
I bought some E-liquid from a UK-based company importing from China a couple of months back and it made me cough so much that I reported them to trading standards. E-Liquids should never make you feel unhealthy in the slightest, if you have any problems, stop using that brand immediately and report them.
Biebel, I wouldn't worry about 'extras' because nicotine is addictive enough anyway, there really isn't anything more addictive. I just don't trust any of the chinese manufactured premixed E-liquids because bad practice can lead to contamination regardless of how safe the ingredients are. This is also the reason why I spent significantly more money on my Kayfun 3.1 and Provari setup; they are built to pharmaceutical standards using only stainless steel in the construction of the Kayfun. I couldn't be happier.
I am also on 12mg nicotine now. I had a seriously stressful few months and couldn't go below 16mg but now I'm happy with 12mg and you're right, more nicotine changes the flavour and gives a "bite". I started on 24mg and it blew my head off but it made me quit smoking instantly! A good nicotine base like the NEAT54 I am using is almost flavourless.
The better the atomizer, the less nicotine you need. With a Kayfun, for example, they recommend you halve your nicotine level because the device delivers it so well. Vivi Nova have a great name and I'm sure you won't be disappointed but if you can get your hands on a Svoemesto Kayfun then go for it, the flavour is just amazing and so consistent....they sell out almost immediately. Yes try different mixes of PG/VG before you make your mind up. I am settled on a 50/50 mix now.
For anyone who wants to DIY, I highly recommend cloud9vaping to purchase nicotine, PG, VG and flavourings. Best customer service I've ever received, great packaging and they have a very active support forum full of great people. If you need any help let me know.
With regards to pre-filled cartomizers in the toy-looking plastic cigarettes; I simply do not trust them. Apart from being cost ineffective, they are all imported from Chinese factories. That's why I do not oppose testing and regulation of E-liquids....there is nothing to stop even a beginner like me making a website and selling my own E-Liquids as the law currently stands.
At the end of the day, I feel and look significantly healthier. I don't have a smoker's cough anymore, I don't have any horrible phlegm, I don't wheeze and lose breath by walking up stairs, I don't have bad skin and it's given me a big psychological boost over conquering my cigarette demons. Plus I can't bloody wait til the Sketchucation Winter School because I'll be able to ski without having to stop every 5 mins to catch my breath!!! Bring it on! E-cigs have given me a new lease of life.
I am looking for a real solution to quit smoking; not patches and chewing gum....I have not had a cigarette in months and it would never cross my mind to do so again. We're in the 21st century; it's about time we had a 21st century solution!
It's funny how people are cautious over E-cigs but for years we've been smoking cancer-causing tobaccos that are proven to contain a vast plethora of dangerous chemicals. JUST BAN CIGARETTES ALREADY!! WE WOULDN'T EVEN BE VAPING IF WE HADN'T BEEN ADDICTED IN THE FIRST PLACE!! JUST BAN THEM!!
